Best bubble recipe EVER

The Captain and our Cheetah have been having lots of fun with big bubble stuff...

You have to wait for perfect weather conditions for the BIG bubbles to work; like very warm, sticky weather. The bubbles seem to like this a lot! Otherwise just after a good rain. Here is a perfect recipe for a foolproof bubble mixture:

  • 12 cups water
  • 1 cup dishsoap
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
Best detergents for these bubbles are: Joy (US), Fairy (EUR, UK), Morning Fresh (AUS)

Go here to see the bubble kit the Captain bought for us kids (young and old) to play with.

Made 4 Kids Boutique

One of my favorite interior magazines we find in my country is the Art & Decoration magazine. I was looking through one of these from 2010 the other day, and saw several interesting websites mentioned on their promotional pages.

Below are a few pictures from the Made 4 Kids (French) website which you can go to here

Outside dining

This is a magazine that I absolutely love to buy; packed full of decorating ideas for everyone's taste.

Here are a few pictures taken from its' website, for outdoor eating areas. While it's summer here at home, Europe will have summer soon, so you can draw some inspiration from here for those warm evenings when you can have your meals outside....

This last one is my favourite; rustic and relaxed.

KIDS

My son is in a Cub group in the area where we live. It's a fantastic way for the boys to learn and get together. Here are a few pictures of what they get up to....

Here they were having a "cook-off" which is the usual fun for the last meeting of term. See the lovely noodle and chicken stir fry with a little bit of dirt for added flavor???

Making lanterns..... Were held our breath for a bit here...wondering if the trees will set alight. It didn't... Phew!!!

They had a sleepover at the big Aquarium in a city nearby. Needless to say they were all in awe to sleep beside the big tank housing the sharks. Hehe, at least none were fed to the sharks for breakfast....

It will be time soon to move up from Cubs to Scouts and we will be sad to say "au revoir" to all the friends here.

Sunny winters' days.....

On a mild, sunny winters' day we decided to visit a nearby coastal town. We had a lovely breakfast overlooking the ocean and a walk on the beach revealed the following....

Someone must have worked very hard, overnight even, to make these beautiful sculptures. There is more which I'll post another time.

It's all new to me!

Hi all

Having followed blogs for so long, I have decided to start one of my own.... (whoop, whoop!)  I'll just jump right in and share with you a moment in a day of our lives...

Today was the Grade 5 (11yr olds) Science Expo at my son's school. We family and friends could go along and see for ourselves what they did. The kids were amazing and I was impressed with the stuff they came up with. Che (my son) made a Cartesian Diver and it was quite a hit!

Here are some pictures of the kids in action....(fingers crossed I get this right...)

The cute  boy in the fourth picture is our son, Che.  He was counting the number of "hits" (visitors) he had to his table and was in a race with the girl in the first picture. Not sure who won in the end, but they looked like they had loads of fun (not to mention the classes they missed while doing this... haha)
