Chocolates, again!

Okay, now who doesn't like a good chocolate? The Captain and I visited a chocolate supplier the other day and spoiled ourselves with 5kg's of good quality Belgian chocolate known as Callebaut

The Captain wasted no time and made something delicious with this chocolate... How terribly spoiled were we with "Ferrero Rocher"-like chocolates, which is absolutely to die for!! There's still a couple left, but it won't last much longer...hmmm.

You can find the recipe to make your own chocolates here. Enjoy!

Happy day!

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day to all of you! I haven't forgotten! As a rule we don't celebrate this day, but the Cheetah insisted on buying roses for all the girls in his grade; so he'll play the Casanova today!

On a different note but still to do with the Day of Love; I'd like to share Franschhoek's "best kept secret". If you haven't been there yet, do yourself a favour, please!

Le Chocolatier is a chocolate factory in the beautiful village of Franschhoek in the Western Cape. Swiss trained chefs create the most beautiful and sinfully delicious chocolates made with the finest Swiss chocolate. My favourite? Chilli chocolates, of course!

Deliciousness at it's best, that's guaranteed! If you haven't bought that gift for your special someone yet, it's not too late. Get to Le Chocolatier for that extra special surprise.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Bendy cake toppers

A while ago I wrote about a post I read on-line (here) for making bendy, bunting cake toppers.  Well, it was The Captain's birthday recently and I wanted to make him a special cake, without going overboard. I tried out the bendy bunting, and it looked quite fabulous in the end.

He absolutely loved it  and the cake (chocolate-buttermilk) was divine too!

Happy day!

Good bye!

Oh, no!!  We were devastated when we heard about Luke and Jessica leaving at the end of the month. This dynamic duo have started Nook Eatery three years ago and have really impressed us with their quality food and pastries and quirky decorating style. They will be missed but we wish them all the best with their future plans.

Nook, on van Ryneveld Street

The best Sticky Cinna-buns, EVER!!

Nook, inside...

Pain-au-chocolat, even better than in France!!

For those who live in the area (or nearby);  you snooze, you loose, SO, you still have until the end of the month to indulge in these delicious treats!

Happy weekend to all. (Ours will probably start off with a croissant, pain-au-chocolat or simply divine French toast at Nook...)

Greek Easter bread

I made this yummy bread for us for Easter, but it is one I could eat any time of the year. That is exactly what the Captain said to me when he tasted it:"Love, you don't have to wait until Easter to make this again!" Hehe.. Next time I will change it a little and add some good quality chocolate chips, ones from Callebaut - the best chocolate in my opinion. Also see another link to their chocolate here or on Facebook.

The recipe for this bread is from Cooks.com here Try it, it's worth it!!

Happy day!

Warm autumn morning at home

What I get up to on a lovely, sunny autumn morning when I have an hour just for myself....

A bunch of beautiful flowers...

Home made choc brownies...

A table set "just for me"...

A pile of my favourite magazines...

Bliss....(sigh!)
