Baking

I love summertime for the abundance of fresh fruit available to us.  My latest "batch" from the kitchen is a fresh plum tart...

Cheetah doesn't like baked fruit with anything, and he doesn't yet know what he's missing... hmmmm.

Happy day!

Bendy cake toppers

A while ago I wrote about a post I read on-line (here) for making bendy, bunting cake toppers.  Well, it was The Captain's birthday recently and I wanted to make him a special cake, without going overboard. I tried out the bendy bunting, and it looked quite fabulous in the end.

He absolutely loved it  and the cake (chocolate-buttermilk) was divine too!

Happy day!

Sweet things

I was asked to make a cake for a girls' eighth birthday a while ago and made this cupcake tower. It looked so divine I simply have to share the pictures. The little party-goers "oooohed" and "aaahed" when they saw these, and everyone wanted to know if I'd teach them how to make the fondant roses. hehehe

They were vanilla cupcakes with butter-cream icing. My favorite is the pink/white swirly cakes. It reminds me of the summer sun, the beach and soft serve ice-cream..... Hmmmhmmmm.....

Crazy Sugarcraft

Wonderful and edible creations by Lynette and Manda of Crazy Sugarcraft. They are based in Stellenbosch, but I don't think they are limited to that area only.If you live in the Western Cape and you're planning a big event, they are the ones to get hold of to make your dream cake come true. They have a Facebook page here via which they can be contacted.

These are CAKES! Can you believe it?

Their cakes don't just look fabulous, they taste divine too! They are the only people I know of, in The Western Cape that do such 3D cakes. Don't even hesitate, just contact them for a cake for any occasion. You won't be sorry.

Enjoy!

Awesome cakes!!!

We recently celebrated Jose's 40th birthday. I invited a whole bunch of people to join in the festivities and decided to make all the finger-food myself. I just LOVE doing this kind of thing, and included all my honey's favorite things. When it came to the cake, I got a bit stuck. Baking is a big love of mine, but I wanted this cake to be extra special. Decorated in a special way for a special person...aaawwwww...I know!

To the rescue! Crazy Sugar Craft ladies Lynette and Manda, without whom I'd have been stuck! All I told them, was that I wanted a toolbox cake for my husband who LOVES woodwork and all his woodworking "toys" and gadgets.

JUST LOOK WHAT THEY'VE DONE!!!!

Don't you just LOVE the post-it note? BTW, the entire cake is edible, even the post-it! These ladies are so incredibly creative, they deserve this mention!

Leave a comment with your contact details if you live in the Cape Town area and would like to approach them for a cake for special occasion.
