Bedroom inspiration

Here are a few pictures of absolutely delightful bedrooms from the Loft I Love Facebook page that is just too good to keep to myself. For me,  a perfect way to start a Monday is with a bit of eye candy like these. "Like" their Facebook page and you'll also get inspiring updates like these to brighten up your day (wink).

This first picture with the suspended bed and fabulous grey bedlinen is just "WOW!" and something I wouldn't mind for my own bedroom. Not to mention the fireplace and the awesome white hide on the floor!

The headboard in the second to last picture is super "WOW!", don't you think? Have a look....

Like usual (because that's what I like...) the theme is grey and white although I do like a bit of bohemian Moroccan brightness too, sometimes. These just create such a fantastic, serene atmosphere for a bedroom that is impossible to resist.

Happy week folks!

Dottie stuff

How can this be? I was just too late!! One Of my favourite of favourites on Etsy and the world of Vintage and blogging had  a handful of dresses going on sale on Etsy and they sold out in just a couple of days! Nooooo!!!

Dottie Angel   have been my muse since I "discovered" her a couple of years ago and when I saw that she has her trademark, gorgeous, vintage inspired frocks on Etsy, it was just a tad too late. Now I have to wait until "fall" which is our Spring and keep my eyes peeled on her Facebook page and Etsy shop to make sure I'm a "happy chappie" this coming summer, in my "dottie frock".

Here's a peek at her creations.....

Dare I say that it would make me a happy chappie indeed to see ALL of these in the wardrobe that I call mine? Sigh! Oh, yes! Very happy indeed!

Happy weekend folks!

Thanks to Pinterest, I stumbled upon this fantastic site of Swedish born Parisian, Anna G. What an absolute pleasure to scroll down the page and feast my eyes on the photographs of these beautiful homes that she shares with us.

I could really go on FOREVER with these lovely images, but I'll let you discover more of such treasures by yourself by visiting her site. All above images are courtesy of  La Maison d'Anna G

Be inspired!

Happy weekend!

I like it a lot

I can't believe it's the 4th of the month already! We've been busy with the kitchen and then had a busy weekend with Cheetah playing indoor hockey and then we were visiting friends on Sunday for a big get-together. We were quite happy that yesterday turned out to be a bit cooler than the sweltering heat we've had this last week. (Phew!)

Here are some images that inspired me over the last few days. I'm beginning to like the idea of white, grey and natural wood more and more; especially now the kitchen is (almost) done and the lighter tones with the bamboo look so divine! (I'll share with you later in the week)

These rooms are absolutely gorgeous and I am considering painting a few pieces of our furniture all white. I hope you get some inspiration from these too!

Have a happy week!

DIY wooden crate

Just something I knocked together (pun intended...hehe) the other day with a hammer and a few nails....

It went from this......

......which is off-cuts from this.....

to this........

The Captain was horrified at first, to see me hammering this box together with only nails, but after I painted it  and stencilled some numbers on there, he agreed it doesn't look too bad...hehehe. It's  very basic, perhaps even a bit ugly and a bit dilapidated old wooden crate/box for a corner in the garden, but I like it!

Happy day!

Aspidistra

Aspidistra Garden Centre is one of my absolute favourites in my area. I often go there in search of unusual plants that one will have difficulty to find anywhere else, and of course for some fantastic ideas to "decorate" my garden. Owner Willie Schmidt has a slot on the weekly TV-show Pasella in which he gives very good ideas on creative gardening. See the pictures below to have an idea of the creativeness he gets up to.  If you missed any of these episodes you can catch it on the Pasella website here but also make sure you visit the garden centre near Stellenbosch to see for yourself!!

The latest post on the website is about  veggie gardening in a 1m x 1m pot, here. The Captain and I have been preparing to make our own veggie garden in huge, discarded wooden crates from a wine farm. One idea I've had though, was to try the ordinary plastic crates used by dairies which one can also buy at a plastics retail outlet. Since I have two or three of these around I will follow Willie's advice on the 1m x 1m gardening (on smaller scale of course) and see how successful it is.

Happy day!
