Decorex continues

One of my favourites was the exhibit of Stefan Frylick of Space for Life
I love this décor style - retro, funky, yet timeless

Edge Interiors was responsible for this exhibit, with exceptional results;
I loved it - modern and fabulous!

Happy day!

Decorex Cape Town 2013

love milo @ decorex, a lovely shop that I wrote about here a while back
Don't you just love the colour on the walls?

Beyond Innovation showcased the most fabulous printed fabrics - see more here
I just adore this chair!

Indigi Designs - fabulous locally made items that are just begging for you to take them home.
Funky, functional and a definite feeling of "I want that!" when I saw this exhibit.

More sharing tomorrow.

Happy May Day folks!

Weylandts

A recent visit to Knysna with visitors from The Netherlands took us on a trip to Thesen Island and in particular checking out the Weylandts shop on the island. If you're into contemporary furniture and design for the home, this is the place to go. Weylandts stock a wide variety of furniture and décor items that will leave your pocket a bit emptier but your home looking fabulous.

As the sole distributor in South Africa of designers such as Kenneth Cobonpue and Ethnicraft it is not surprising that Weylandts is such a favourite shopping destination for home decorators.

I took some pictures in the Thesen Island store, but if you want to see their whole range of products, check out their website here.

Do you like? I love, love, LOVE!

Happy day!

Aspidistra

Aspidistra Garden Centre is one of my absolute favourites in my area. I often go there in search of unusual plants that one will have difficulty to find anywhere else, and of course for some fantastic ideas to "decorate" my garden. Owner Willie Schmidt has a slot on the weekly TV-show Pasella in which he gives very good ideas on creative gardening. See the pictures below to have an idea of the creativeness he gets up to.  If you missed any of these episodes you can catch it on the Pasella website here but also make sure you visit the garden centre near Stellenbosch to see for yourself!!

The latest post on the website is about  veggie gardening in a 1m x 1m pot, here. The Captain and I have been preparing to make our own veggie garden in huge, discarded wooden crates from a wine farm. One idea I've had though, was to try the ordinary plastic crates used by dairies which one can also buy at a plastics retail outlet. Since I have two or three of these around I will follow Willie's advice on the 1m x 1m gardening (on smaller scale of course) and see how successful it is.

Happy day!

House Doctor

I just ADORE the furniture and homeware from the latest HOUSE DOCTOR catalogue.

Okay, so I was actually supposed to be doing something else, until I saw a beautiful image on the HOUSE DOCTOR  Facebook page here. Without thinking twice (as I should've done) I navigated to their new catalogue and that was IT for me. A couple of hours later and here I am, sharing with you and having done nothing (else) productive.... Feast your eyes!

Happy day!

west elm

I love on-line catalogues, and the latest one from west elm  features several South African designers who worked in collaboration with west elm. You can see the catalogue here.

Designers like Gemma Orkin whom I wrote about here .

South African ceramicist John Newdigate creations like these

John Vogel furniture

There's much, much more of course, but I'll run out of space here before I posted even half the pictures I'd like for you to see.

For more info on South Africa and other designers, click here. There are links to places to eat, stuff to see, a couple of videos and a profile of all the designers.

Happy day!

I Want That - crochet

One of my favourite local bloggers "I Want That" posted about crochet and I love these pics so much!! Going to finish my first cushion and move onto making loads and loads of pot holders next....

For now, feast your eyes on this!!

Gorgeous isn't it???
Idea for my next project - what I love about these pot holders is that you can finish one in such a short time; instant results, yeah!
